I loved the London and New York shows. However the Milan collections made me want more than just pretty pastels and flowers for the summer. It's is a really big deal (to me anyway). You know the drill here are my favourite picks for spring/summer '14...
Dolce & Gabbana
If you loved the autumn/winter 2013 collection by D&G then you will love this summer collection. Like the previous collection it was inspired by Sicilian culture. This time it was drawn on ancient Greece. There was enlarged gold coins, sepia photographs of temples and theatres printed on clothing and lots of flowers. There was a lot of gold and black. In a word the collection was just glamourous(I know that's two but 'in one word' sounds better!).
Alberta Ferretti described her collection as being influenced by "the vision of countries where the culture of sunshine shapes the culture of life”. You can definitely see this influence throughout the collection. I mean this collection reminds me of South America. My favourite thing about this collection is all the white with multicoloured floral embroidery. Its just fun and filled with brights. Whats not to love?!
I am be slightly biased when it comes to anything by Karl Lagerfeld but I absolutely love this collection. Its filled with organza and chiffon has been used to create a variety of shapes from tiered ombre dresses to geometric cuts. There are PVC and shaved fur pieces in the mix as well. You can tell how much thought has gone into each item from the shapes and materials used. It must be extremely technical. Let's play a game: I spy with my little eye something beginning with C...
Craziest Collection Ever- Moschino
I have no idea how I would start to explain this collection except they were celebrating their big 3-0. Clearly they wanted an unforgettable birthday. Is it weird I want that bear hat?! In my defence it is kinda cute...
So what were your favourite looks? Mine is a toss up between Fendi and D&G. At the moment I am swaying towards D&G. However I have constantly changed my mind throughout writing this post so I am pretty fickle when it comes to this decision. I'd love to hear yours!
PS. Answer to the game: Cara Delevingne who's in a black wig in the ombre tiered dress and in the sunglasses. Did you spot her?
